Hampton, Shirley Hale 2Shirley Joan Hale Hampton of Sevierville, Tennessee passed peacefully June 15, 2026, at her home with family at her side. Born in Richlands, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Troy E. Hale and Katie Virginia Seay Hale.

Shirley was a graduate of Richlands High School and was Valedictorian of the class of 1957. Shirley met her husband of 66 years, Homer Hampton, in the first grade.

Shirleys’ first employment was as a pharmacy tech at Clinch Valley Clinic in Richlands Virginia. She worked for U.S. Government as Civil Service employee with a role with the Army Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. She was an Army wife for many years. Shirley’s favorite color was purple. She loved to watch the hummingbirds.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Hampton. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond Hale, James Hale, and Ronald Hale; and sister, Karen Hale Hess.

She is survived by three daughters, Anita Renee Hickman of Sevierville, TN, Cindy Lea (Steve) Allen of Dublin, VA, and Jeanne Yvette (Raymond) Solomon of Southern Pines, NC. She was loved by six grandchildren, Tracy Blitch of Nevels, GA, Larry (Becky) Solomon of Lillington, NC, Brandon (Katie) Allen of Pearisburg, VA, Brian (Tiffany) Solomon of Cameron, NC, Shana (Luke) Buzzard of Dublin, VA, and Casey (Rachel) Blitch of Statesboro, GA. She was adored by 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grand-children. She is loved by multiple cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Central Church, 803 Wadsworth Street, Radford, VA, at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2026 with Rev. Chris Blackburn officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA
