5/18: Pearisburg Junior Jamboree
The Pearisburg Junior Woman’s Club (PJWC) will be hosting their 2nd Annual Junior Jamboree on Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pearisburg Community Center, 1410 Wenonah Avenue, Pearisburg.
The PJWC Junior Jamboree will include a Donut Dash for Dolly beginning at 9 a.m. in front of the basketball courts. Participants stroll along the beautiful park trail with tasty donut stops along the way. They will make their way to the pavilion where gourmet donuts and coffee await. Tickets are $5 per person, children 2 and under are free. All proceeds from the Donut Dash will help fund the expansion of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Giles County.
At 10 a.m., artists, crafters and food trucks will be set up on the lawn of the Pearisburg Community Center. Participating vendors include food trucks Simple Fixins. Participating artists, crafters, community organizations, and businesses include Double Edge Sawmill LLC, Relay for Life, The Blood Connection, Fffudge and Stufff, Scentsy, Feathered Darlin’ Boutique, Funny Farm Apothecary, Mary Kay, Emily’s Stitching 4 You, ColorStreet, Artistic Creations, Ballard Soap Company, Kimmi’s Kandies, Lister Farm, PJWC Rada Fundraiser, Blossom Bows LLC and many other local artisans.
The Giles County School of Dance will take the stage at 11 a.m., followed by Dance Motion performing at noon and closing out the entertainment at 1 p.m. is The Honey Drops. The Honey Drops are a young trio of singers (Aubrey Adkins, Ella Butler, and Ky Fury), ages 14, 15, and 16, based out of West Virginia. Their influences are broad, from Fleetwood Mac to the Killers and the Wallin’ Jennys to show tunes.
Admission to the Junior Jamboree is free and open to the public.
The Pearisburg Junior Woman’s Club is a volunteer community service organization with a membership of women from Giles County, Virginia. The club’s community service projects include providing nonperishable food during winter break for k-12 students with food insecurity in Giles County Schools, supplying food for the high schools’ food closets, hosting an annual Breakfast with Santa to fund Christmas gifts for children in need, supporting the upgrade of town park equipment, funding Mill Mountain Zoo visits to elementary schools, serving as the local affiliate for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Giles County, and funding other community projects that directly benefit citizens of Giles County.
