24 Local Outstanding Students at NRCC

24 Local Outstanding Students at NRCC 4Twenty-four students from the New River Valley were recently recognized as 2024 Outstanding Students in a Curriculum/Subject Area by New River Community College. Students from the New River Valley who were honored included:

From Floyd County: Logan Robertson, engineering design technology.

From Giles County: Samantha Conner, medical administrative support; and Kaylee Hopkins, forensic science and police science.

From Montgomery County: Matthew Akers, machine technology; Lee Cox, math and business administration; Karissa Deeb, science; Christian Downs, biology; Daniel Leichner, instrumentation and control automation technology; Deirdre McCurdy, music, English, and general studies; Julie Taylor, accounting; Jared Thompson, information technology network and technical support; and Joseph Vaughn, electronics technology.

From Pulaski County: Megan Cox, computer science; Eli Moler, general studies computer science; Bobby Petty, English; Stanley Wayne Seagle, information technology cyber security; Alfred Shean, automotive analysis and repair; and Brittany Sutphin, paralegal administrative support.

From Radford: Marissa Bowden, business management; Sydney Hardwicke, English and general studies; Ellie Lovik, education; Sarah Nitz, English and general studies; Kyle Scarrette, English; and Jessop Skewes, nursing.

Students were recognized at the recent President’s Awards Ceremony at the college, as well as received a plaque honoring their award. Students are also being individually recognized on NRCC’s social media outlets.

The awards were determined by the faculty in the various programs at the college. All students receiving the Outstanding Student in a Curriculum award have completed requirements for an associate degree, certificate, diploma or career studies certificate and are eligible to graduate from the college this spring or summer.
