Tolliver, Garland Roy
Garland Roy “A” Tolliver, formally of Shiloh, was peacefully carried home in the loving arms of the Father on September 13, 2025. Born on May 25, 1932, in Baltimore, MD, he was the 8th child of Charles & Grace Tolliver.
Garland spent more than 30 years as a Patternmaker at the Lynchburg Foundry in Radford.
He married Helen O’Dell in 1957 and together they raised three children: Robin, Laverne, and Valerie. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his twin brother Garnett LeRoy “B” Tolliver, brothers Paul, Jesse, Claude, Otho, Jimmy, and his sisters Viola and Hatti, and a great-granddaughter Lyiah.
He was an Army Veteran having served at Camp Hanford, Washington during the Korean Conflict and a graduate of Draper High School.
Outside of work, most of his time was spent caring for his home, family and the church. He believed in showing love through action in his quiet, reliable nature. On June 21, 1962, he was baptized into the full fellowship of the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Hiwassee and later fulfilled his duties as Deacon serving from June 27, 1981, until his passing.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Bill Hurst, Rose Laverne Webb, Valerie and Chuck Hayes; grandchildren Stephanie, Brian, Kimberly and Kevin; 2 great-grandchildren, Connor and Emily; Many nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family wishes to acknowledge the many friendships that were made at Commonwealth Senior Living Fairlawn during the past 2 years. Each of you will continue to be special in our hearts for the love and companionship you shared with our father and us as well. We also appreciate all the caregivers and resident staff for your time and comfort. A special Thank you to Kathy, Sue, and Kathie for the many hours of companionship that brought dad so much joy.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM – Friday, September 18, 2026 from the Bower Funeral Home-Chapel, Pulaski with Elder Ronald Bowman officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Page-Dishon Family Cemetery, Snowville.
