David Lee Poole left this world to be with his Heavenly Father, January 11, 2026. David was born in Pulaski, Va. on November 22, 1946 to his parents, Janie E. White Poole & Fred K. Poole Sr.

His parents migrated to Newark, New Jersey in the 1940s. David was raised by his paternal grandmother, Odie Poole. David was educated in Pulaski, Va. attending Calfee Training School and graduated from Christiansburg Industrial Institute (High School), Christiansburg, Va in 1965. David was drafted into the United States Army in 1968. He served two tours in Vietnam, staying until the war officially ended in 1973. David rose to the rank of Sergeant E-6.

After leaving Vietnam, David was stationed at Fort Lee Army Base, Fort Lee, Va. David’s next assignment was at Fort Sill Army Base, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. David also served two tours in Germany. After serving 25 years with the Army, David became Commander Sergeant Major E-9 before retiring in Colorado Springs, Colorado with his wife, Karla and children, Jennifer and Nicole. David lived in Las Vegas many years and later moved to Addington, Oklahoma.

David was preceded in death by his wife Karla Kay Orr, whom he married in 1978; his parents, Fred Poole, Sr. and mother Janie White Poole; his maternal grandmother, Marietta Rogers White; grandfather Harry White Sr., paternal grandmother, Odie Black Poole and grandfather, John Wesley Poole.

David leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Jennifer Wilson of Oklahoma City and Nicole Poole of Addington, Oklahoma; Michelle Poole, Pulaski, Va.; his grandchildren, Brittany Bratton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jayden Wilson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Isaiah Poole of Addington, Oklahoma; brother and sister-in-law Fred Poole Jr. and Patricia of Pulaski, Va.; two cousins, Janie Stith Montgomery of Pulaski, Va. and Odell Poole of Atlanta, GA.

A memorial service will be held Friday at Addington Baptist Church, Addington, Oklahoma at 12 noon (CST). Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika, Oklahoma is handling arrangements. The service can be viewed online Jan. 15, 2026.
