Shelton, Sue Shumaker

Rebecca “Sue” Shelton, age 83 of Dublin, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2026 at her home. Born February 11, 1943 in Pulaski, she was the daughter of the late William F. Shumaker & Sarah Enola Shouse Shumaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband James Curtis Shelton; grandson Kevin Matthew Sutherland and brother Charles Shumaker.

2 Corinthians 5:8 KJV – We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

John 14:2,3 – In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Sue’s mansion was ready and he came for her on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

She is survived by her Daughter – Barbara (Jody) Martin; Step Grandson – J.D. (Kelly) Martin; Sister & Brother-in-law – Nancy & David Early; Brother & Sister-in-law – Ronnie & Shawn Shumaker; A host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM – Saturday, November 7, 2026 at the Highland Memory Gardens – Mausoleum in Dublin, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks those to make memorials to a charity of their choice in honor of Sue.
