Parr, Bernard Alvin

Bernard Alvin Parr, age 68, passed away surrounded by his children on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Born June 7, 1957, in Pearisburg, VA, he was the son of the late Leonard Alvin an Ethel Martha Bishop Parr.

Bernard was a 1975 graduate of Giles High School. He worked at Celanese for 30+ years until his retirement in 2013. He was a member of John Dove Lodge #78 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed woodworking, working on cars, making other people laugh, and riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Survivors include one son, Phillip Parr and wife Angela; one daughter, Jodel Parr and partner Dustin Cooper; one granddaughter, Emry Cooper; and one sister, Betty Swinford.

A visitation will be held from 2:00PM until 4:00PM on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV.

Funeral service will be held at 9:30AM on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the Appalachian Christian Center in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Michael Biggs officiating. Burial will follow at the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, VA.
