Hutchins, John Gemmill
John Gemmill Hutchins, 87, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026. Born in Radford, Virginia, on January 2, 1939, John lived a life defined by service, hard work, and dedication to his family.
He proudly served his country after being drafted into the United States Army. Following his military service, he worked at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, where he was a dedicated employee for many years.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise Trump Hutchins; his stepson, Wayne; and his brothers, Argell Hutchins, Bill Hutchins, and Robert Hutchins; and his sister, Helen Rupe.
He is survived by his stepchildren, Lora, Mike, and Timmy; and his sister, Ida Shupe; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many friends and extended family members who will cherish his memory.
John will be remembered for his patriotism, strong work ethic, and the love he shared with his family. His kindness, quiet strength, and dedication to those he cared about will not be forgotten.
The family will forever treasure the memories they shared with him and find comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.
May he rest in peace.
A graveside service will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, July 10, 2026, in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg, Virginia.

ive been in John’s life,for years, and years,,he was awonderful man..he would do anything for anybody..I hate this so bad..he would always take up for me years ago..he was my father in law then..he loved all of his stepchildren all of them..he was there for them always..fly high up in that eastern sky..I no you are with Louise too now..you two are together again..may you r.i.p. john..you truly, honestly, will be missed bad..I love you my friend John. my father in law..I will see you again soonone day too..
