5/23: Wilderness Road Ride
Radford, VA – Cyclists from across the region will gather in Radford on Saturday, May 23, 2026, for the 35th Annual Wilderness Road Ride, a scenic cycling event that traces part of Daniel Boone’s historic Wilderness Road.
Hosted by FCA Endurance (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), the ride offers five route options designed to accommodate riders of all ages and abilities, from a 26-mile relaxed
ride suitable for beginners and e-bikes to a 100-mile century challenge for experienced cyclists.
All routes will begin and end at Bisset Park (Shelter #2) along the New River, providing a picturesque setting for riders and spectators alike.
Participants will enjoy fully supported courses featuring:
• Regularly spaced aid stations stocked with Hammer Nutrition fuel, water, and snacks
• SAG vehicles providing on-course assistance
• Post Ride BBQ offered by the Roanoke Triathlon Club
• Detailed maps, cue sheets, and GPS route downloads
The event also provides opportunities for family members and visitors to enjoy Bisset Park, the New River, and downtown Radford while riders are on the course.
Over its 35-year history, the Wilderness Road Ride has become a regional tradition that brings visitors to the New River Valley, contributing to local tourism and economic activity.
All pre-registered riders will receive a technical event t-shirt and participant swag.
As a non-profit 501c3, all proceeds go back into the community, primarily for scholarships to send youth to FCA Sports Camp this summer.
Motorists, please be aware there will be over 200 cyclists on the roads Saturday, May 23rd between 7:00am and 2:00pm. Remember to share the road and keep a watchful eye for cyclist riding this Memorial Day weekend.
