6/13: Sparkfest Music Festival

Springhouse will host SparkFest: Music & Living Earth Festival on Saturday, June 13, from 5 to 10pm at their campus in Pilot, Virginia. This free, family-friendly evening brings the community together through live music and hands-on activities rooted in connection to the land and serves as Springhouse’s annual fundraising event through GiveLocalNRV, the regional giving campaign hosted by the Community Foundation of the New River Valley.

6/13: Sparkfest Music Festival 2Attendees are invited to spark new skills alongside their neighbors, building with cob, weaving baskets, working in the garden, and removing invasive species, while enjoying performances from local and traveling musicians. This year’s lineup features Springhouse alumni Felix Byler of Her Majesty and Skyler Locke, along with local musician Mike Mitchell and a well-known beloved band in the New River Valley, The Kind.

“SparkFest brings people together through music, creativity, and practical skills that strengthen our community,” said Springhouse staff member Ian Stabler. “We hope attendees leave inspired not only by the performances, but by the knowledge and connections they make.”

SparkFest is part of GiveLocalNRV, an annual campaign that rallies nonprofits, donors, and volunteers across the New River Valley around collective giving. The event is a chance to support Springhouse’s mission to envision, practice, and share ways of living that contribute to a thriving world.

“At the Community Foundation of the New River Valley, we love watching organizations like Springhouse shine,” said Lindsey Gleason-Reed, Assistant Director of CFNRV. “Each year we see our community come together to support the vital work of these nonprofits, and we love to celebrate them at the great events they put together.”

Both performing alumni are eager to return to the Springhouse campus. “Her Majesty will be bringing our hard rock sound back to SparkFest,” said Byler. “We hope to see you there!” Locke added: “It all starts with a spark, then it’ll burst into flames. I’ll make sure to bring the fire, so excited to come hang with y’all at SparkFest!”

The event is free, sober, and open to all ages. Guests are encouraged to carpool. Donations to support Springhouse’s GiveLocalNRV campaign are welcomed throughout the month of June at bit.ly/GiveLocalSpringhouse.
