Young, David Gray

David Grey Young, 94, of Blacksburg, Va. passed away on August 6, 2026. Born on March 5, 1932, in Little Creek, Va. to the late Dewey and Effie Young.

In addition to his beloved wife of 50 years, Almeta, David was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruby Munsey, Dorothy Joplin, Muriel Davis, Debbie Martin, and Janice Fisher; brothers, Woody Young, Ernest Young, and Buford Young.

David was a proud U.S. Army veteran who retired from the military after more than twenty years of honorable service. He loved the outdoors and had a variety of interests, including gardening, carpentry, and fishing. David was a devout and committed father and husband who provided years of unwavering love and care for his wife as she battled Alzheimer’s Disease.

Those left to cherish David’s memory include his son, Kevin Young; daughter in law, Kelly Young; brother, Grady Young; sisters, Joyce Kincaid (Jim) and Judy Gauthier (Ray); grandchildren, Kaden Young and Kolbie Young.

The family will receive visitors at McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg from 5-7pm on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. A private service for family will be held later at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
