Tawney, Sr., Jack B.
Jack B. Tawney, Sr., of Giles County, VA, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Jack was born in Big Stoney Creek in Giles County to the late Samuel C. and Sadie Ray Kessinger Tawney.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Gilmer Tawney, a brother, Larry Dean Kessinger, and a sister, Patty Jo Whetzel. Jask is survived by his children: J.B. (Patricia) Tawney, Jr., Timothy Allen (Terry) Tawney, Tina Tawney (Buddy) Hinkle, Kimberly Tawney (Robert) Wagle, Richard Samuel Tawney, and Clarence David (Carol) Tawney; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Jerry (J.P.) Tawney and Joey (Mary) Tawney; 3 nieces ; 1 nephew; several great and great great nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Jack worked many jobs in his lifetime, he was an over the road truck driver, Henry County Deputy Sheriff, he worked Security; he was a volunteer for Pearisburg Fire Department and Giles County Rescue Squad, and worked at Kendall Funeral Home in Giles County and Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. He enjoyed attending Riverview Baptist Church in Big Stoney when he could.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Birchlawn Memorial Park in Pearisburg.
