Spangler, Gary Wayne

Gary Wayne Spangler, 65 of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025. He was born in Ellicott City, Maryland, on January 10, 1960, to the late Murry Jackson Spangler & Bessie B. Spangler. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his close uncle, Charles B. Spangler, Jr.; and aunt Marie Spangler.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Julianne Spangler; sisters, Janet S. Branch, Karen S. Black; brother & sister-in-law, David J. & Lydean Spangler; many nieces & nephews; and special cousins, Sara Dulaney, and Ralph Roland.

After graduating from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, he moved to Columbus, Ohio. In his spare time he enjoyed reading Sci-Fi novels, listening to Classical music, and building model cars and trains. Gary also enjoyed boating and spending time outdoors.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
