Mullins, Dixie Ellis
Dixie Lee Ellis Mullins, age 80, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Princeton Community Hospital. Dixie was born on July 16, 1944, in Pearisburg, VA. She was the daughter of the late Mac and Alma Meadows Ellis.
Dixie was a member of the Appalachian Christian Center and a retired school bus driver from Monroe County, where she touched the lives of many children.
Dixie was a loving wife, mother, nana, and sister who was happiest when surrounded by her family and church family. Dixie loved working in her garden with her husband, exploring her new interest in painting, and cheering on her grand and great-grandchildren in all their sporting events throughout the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 56 years, Earl Mullins.
Survivors include her daughters, Amy Martin and husband Darryl, Robin Mann and husband Sean, and Jennifer Swetnam, all of Peterstown, WV; grandchildren, Britta Woodyard and husband Ben, Kara Reed and husband Derrick, Ian Huntley, and Zion and McKinley Mann; great-grandchildren, Easton, Hudson, and Emerson Woodyard, and Karsyn and Ryker Reed; one sister, Linda King and husband Steve; special nephews, Mike and Todd Joersz; brothers, Arlen Ellis and wife Kathy, Allen Ellis and wife Tedette, and Mark Ellis; sister, Toni Christiansen Ellis; brother-in-law, Bill Wimmer; her lifelong best friend, Jeannie Ostendorf; and special friend, Gracie Wimmer. Dixie was a cherished cousin and a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her constant, loyal companion of 17 years, her dog Molly.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Mike Biggs officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek, VA. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
