Law, Ervil Dunn
Ervil Dunn Law, age 93, passed away peacefully at Country View Assisted Living on Friday, April 21, 2023. She was born March 6, 1930, in Giles County, VA, and was the daughter of the late William Hobert Dunn and Katherine Reed Dunn.
Ervil was a member of the Peterstown Missionary Baptist Church where she was a longtime Treasurer of her Sunday School class, the Fellowship Class. She was a 1949 graduate of Peterstown High School. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, game shows, and soap operas. Ervil was an avid traveler, going to all 50 states and collecting magnets from each one. Throughout her life, she babysat and touched many lives through that service. One of her favorite things to do was to attend her grandchildren’s games, recitals, and concerts. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Bernard J. Law; her son, James Edward “Buddy” Law; her brother, Hobart Kyle “Sonny” Dunn; and son-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Walters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Barbara Law Walters; sisters, Hallie Jo Smith and Norma Jean Jones; grandchildren, Jennifer Law Hagerman (Jay), Amy Walters Amos (Dennis), Melissa Walters Boggess (Tony), Joni Law, Tracy Walters (Emerson Hall), and Jason Walters (Camara McLaughlin); great grandchildren, Corey, Ty, Braydon, Ashtyn, Kyndel, Eli, Paige, Hudson, Maizy and Evie; bonus great grandchildren, Brin and Valerie; great-great grandchild, Brennon; many nieces and nephews; special cousin Larry Wilson and several extended family members and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and residents who cared for Ervil at Country View Assisted Living.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, April 24, 2023, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor John Peña officiating. Burial will follow at the Peterstown Cemetery in Rich Creek, VA. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.
