Hilton, Tolbert Odell

Tolbert Odell Hilton, affectionately known to his friends as “Pete”, age 87 of Pembroke, Virginia departed this life May 13, 2024 in the care of Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg, Virginia. Born December 19, 2024 in Virginia, he was a son of the late Emmitt Merrix and Mary Hilton.

Pete’s first love was his family, especially the life he built with his wife, Julia Popp Hilton. He further enjoyed life in the things he would build whether working construction, assisting with the maintenance of homes, or in working in the garage. He also enjoyed time spent in the woods cutting wood, preparing his home and others for the winter months. Finally, he enjoyed the freedom that riding a 4-wheeler could give with friends or even alone.

In addition to his parents, Pete is preceded in death by his brothers, Alvin “Boocus” Hilton, and David Hilton.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Julia Popp Hilton; sons Gary Hilton, and Tony Hilton; daughter, Stacey Sabatino (Tony); grandchildren, Nicholas Sabatino, Erin Lynnee Sabatino, Michelle Kirk, Megan Stafford (Jason), and Leah Hilton; great-grandchildren, Devon Kirk, Taylor Kirk, Tyler Stafford, Alexis Stafford, and Joseph Stafford; and half-sister, Judy Radford (Arnold).

The family will receive friends in a time of visitation on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be conducted Friday, May 17, 2024 at 2:00 PM in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, Virginia with Pastor Steve Darr officiating.
