Floyd Small Town Summer Series

The Town of Floyd is pleased to announce the ninth year of the Floyd Small Town Summer Event Series taking place in The Warren G Lineberry Park throughout the summer months starting on Thursday, June 4th and concluding on August 27th, 2026. The Town of Floyd offers this series of free events to provide a fun, family-friendly atmosphere in downtown Floyd, VA. The events take place on alternating Thursdays from early June to the end of August and feature music with lots of additional activities provided to highlight the park and the Floyd community.

The 2026 series will kick off on Thursday, June 4, 2026 with Hoppie Vaughan & The Ministers of Soul! Hoppie Vaughan has been igniting and expanding the live music scene in Southwest Virginia since 1996. Hoppie is a singer, songwriter, guitar player, bass player, and entertainer that leads an impressive group of Roanoke-based musicians, the Ministers of Soul! Get ready for an evening of soul, funk, motown and classic R&B!

Opening the evening on June 4th will be Caitlin Krisko & The Broadcast Acoustic Duo! Hailed by Rolling Stone as “one of the best kept vocal secrets of the Southeast,” Caitlin Krisko delivers a sound that’s as raw and electric as it is soulful. Blending the grit of rock & roll with deep roots and blues influences, the Asheville-based performer has built a reputation for live performances that leave audiences spellbound, driven by Krisko’s powerhouse vocals and undeniable stage presence.

• Also on June 4, after the music ends, we will be presenting the first of our MOVIE NIGHTS under the stars with a showing of Disney’s Zootopia 2! 

Thursday June 18, 2026 will feature Louisiana’s The Revelers! The Revelers have been bringing their party around the world for over a decade, and now they’re adding a masterful voice to their celebrated lineup with the addition of fiddler/singer, Kelli Jones. With their Grammy-nominated legacy and reputation as innovators of Louisiana music, this ever-evolving supergroup continues to reinvent itself while staying true to their Cajun Country roots.

Opening the evening will be The Kelley Breiding Band, a multi-instrumentalist and singer originally from North Carolina, who is a jack of all trades; a guitarist, fiddler, banjo player, bass player and singer-songwriter. Breiding grounds her music in the communities that surround it, and is well-versed in regional old-time music and country. Kelley and her band will warm up the audience perfectly to get them ready for some Cajun dancing!

Thursday, July 2, 2026 will be an incredible celebration of bluegrass and old time music featuring Rhonda Vincent & The Rage! Rhonda Vincent is a firecracker of talent that powers one of the hottest bands in any genre of music today. A multi-award winner, with a 2017 Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album, an Entertainer of the Year 2001, Song of the Year 2004, and unprecedented 7 consecutive Female Vocalist of the Year awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association 2000 – 2006 and an 8th win of IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year in 2015.  Her lifelong dream came true when she was invited to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry on February 28, 2020.

Opening the evening will be several groups of youth performers from the Handmade Music School and an up and coming young bluegrass band called Denim & Plaid. Representing the next generation of bluegrass music, this talented youth band has quickly built a reputation for electrifying audiences with their passion, skill, and infectious energy.

Thursday, July 16, 2026 will feature a salsa dance party featuring JStop Latin Soul. Jstop Latin Soul ignites the stage with a bold fusion of Latin grooves, blazing jazz, and gritty soul. As an Afro-Cuban jazz & dance band, they deliver the perfect soundtrack for your dance cravings. JStop Latin Soul’s music keeps you dancing while showcasing exceptional jazz that captivates the soul. Come feel the energy and let the rhythm take over!

Opening the evening is The Robert Jospé Quartet offering an exciting instrumental mix of jazz, rock, pop and Latin styles. Featuring Robert Jospé on drums, with piano/keyboard, bass and guitar.

Thursday, July 30, 2026 features The Willie Williams Band! It is evident in his guitar lines, where the emotion of the blues, enriched by the sophistication of jazz, flows with the power of rock and roll. While exceptionally skilled in revitalizing archetypal Southern rock, his original music reveals a compelling voice of his own. His songs range from roadhouse workouts to contemplative blues, with lyrics unpretentiously poetic and down to earth, touched with humor and sympathy.

Opening the evening is DownRiver Collective, one of the most electrifying new forces in American roots music fueled by boundary-pushing arrangements, razor-sharp dynamics, and a shared devotion to the craft. As Belmont University alums, and with individual roots that stretch far beyond traditional bluegrass, they are united by a deep respect, understanding, and love for the genre.

Thursday, August 13, 2026 we have American Aquarium! For nearly two decades, American Aquarium have pushed toward that rare form of rock-and-roll that’s revelatory in every sense. The North Carolina-bred band matches their gritty breed of country-rock with brave and incisive songwriting. “In our live show the band’s like a freight train that never lets up,” notes band leader BJ Barham, whose bandmates include guitarist Shane Boeker, pedal-steel guitarist Neil Jones, keyboardist Rhett Huffman, drummer Ryan Van Fleet, and bassist Alden Hedges.

Opening the night are local favorites The Deer Run Drifters! With a new lineup, a renewed sense of purpose, and fresh songs that embrace their traditional roots, the band is ready to rekindle their connection with fans. Adding Roanoke native Geoff White on old-time fiddle, and rowdy Floydian Josh Penn on percussion, they’re doubling down on the grit and authenticity that made them a standout name in Americana music.

Thursday, August 27, 2026 features the final event and a fun honky-tonk dance party with The SWVA Honky Tonk All-Stars featuring legendary guitarist Redd Volkaert with Rachael Hester and Silas Hamilton and an incredible backing band including Adam Clark and Chris Blankenship!

From country and western-swing to jazz and rock, Redd Volkaert is considered a true giant of country music and the Telecaster guitar. Redd is a Grammy-winner and a guitar-playing legend who is renowned throughout the country music world and beyond. Volkaert once played in Merle Haggard’s backing band The Strangers. In addition, he has recorded and performed with a who’s who of country music stars such as George Jones, Dolly Parton, Brad Paisley, Dwight Yoakam, Buck Owens, Alison Krauss, Bill Kirchen and many more!

Rachael Hester grew up eating, sleeping and breathing music — her father, the late Hoot Hester, was a much-beloved session musician, a co-founder of The Time Jumpers, and a member of the Opry house band. He played with his daughter until succumbing to cancer in 2016.

Silas Hamilton, from Asheville, North Carolina, is a young pedal steel phenom that will be joining the band for this special event.

Opening the evening, Jesse Smathers & Nick Goad, are tradition bearers and strong voices in bluegrass music from Southwest Virginia. Jesse comes from a long line of musicians from North Carolina. In 2010 he began his career as a touring musician with the James King Band. Jesse currently tours with The Lonesome River Band and lives in Southwest Virginia, near Floyd and teaches with the Handmade Music School. He takes much joy in passing along Appalachian traditions, and cultivating community with the music he makes. Nick Goad, from Stuart, Virginia, has performed with Sideline and Jeff Brown and Still Lonesome. Jesse and Nick will perform a powerful duo set setting the mood for a great night of bluegrass and country music.

In addition to music, each Thursday event will feature an array of local vendors, as well as a “Kid Zone” with family friendly fun. The Town of Floyd’s Small Town Summer Event Series are FREE and open to the public.
