Fizer, James Coby 2James Coby Fizer, 73, of Christiansburg passed away on August 11, 2026 from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident doing what he loved on July 31.

Coby was a Deacon at the New River Valley Biker Church and served in the Patriot Guard. For over ten years he and Anita rode with Rolling Thunder, starting at Volvo in Dublin and ending in Washington D.C.

He was a 50+ year life member of Christiansburg Rescue Squad, where he received the Life Member of the Year award, along with many other accolades. He also held several offices during his tenure with the rescue squad. Additionally, he was a life member of District 7 Virginia Association of 1st Responders.

Coby enjoyed his work life, where he was Facilities and Fleet Director for New River Valley Workshop, which later became Goodwill Industries of the Valley.

Coby was a member of the Christiansburg McDaniel’s Masons Lodge, Blue Lodge, Scottish Rites, and the Odd Fellow’s lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul James Fizer and Alene Whitaker; father and mother-in-law, Buford and Bert Davis; and sister, Linda Fisher.

Coby is survived by his wife of 40 years, Anita Davis Fizer; daughters, Jaime Williams with Jerry Dixon, and India Fizer with Rodney Poff; granddaughters, Cheyenne Martin and husband, Adam, and Cherokee Williams; sister, Becky Levesque; brother-in-law, Allen Davis and wife, Tammy; sister-in-law, Cindy Primm; fur babies, Scooter, DooDoo, Callie, Peeps, Tippy, and Lilly; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 15 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joe Walker officiating.
