Bower, Larry Allen

Larry Allen Bower, 80, of Pilot, Va, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. He was born to the late Charles Ronceverte and Mary Frances Bishop Bower and was also preceded in death by a brother, Dickie Bower.

He is survived by his son, David Bower; grandchildren, Seneca (David) Phillips, Michael Bower, and Jadan Abshire; numerous great grandchildren; his sister, Sandy Collins; and a host of other family and friends.

Larry worked in construction for many years as a heavy equipment operator and after retiring worked for Montgomery County Transfer Sites. He proudly served for ten plus years in the US Army artillery during Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart. He was a good man and will be missed by many.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Horne Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be conducted on Monday, August 17, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Matthews Cemetery (formerly Bower Cemetery) Riner with Pastor Ryan Rose officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are invited to meet at the funeral home by 10:00 am.
