Duncan, David Allen

Duncan, David Allen 2David Allen Duncan, 63, passed away February 16, 2026, at Lewis-Gale, Montgomery Regional Hospital. David was born July 8, 1962, in Pulaski to Charlie Byrd Duncan, Jr., and Lucy Jane “Janie” Aust Duncan. He was a long-time resident of Floyd and Dublin, Virginia.

Every summer David looked forward to mowing and hauling with his John Deere, and every winter he rode his tractor in the Dublin Christmas parade. He loved fishing, boating, swimming, bowling, and riding his “Honda Fat Cat” over the hills at his parents’ farm.

He competed in the Special Olympics, and, beginning at age eight, he attended Camp Easterseals almost every year. He enjoyed cooking, especially his mother’s coconut cake and his prize-winning apple pie. Social and charismatic, he loved attending church, singing both hymns and karaoke, dressing in Christmas and Halloween costumes, and dancing whenever he could.

He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as many special aunts and uncles. He is survived by his brother, Charlie Byrd Duncan III, his sister-in-law Vann Duncan, and his beloved niece, Elizabeth Byrd Duncan. He is also remembered by many special cousins and friends. The family would like to honor his long-time caregiver, Becky McBroom, who made special room for David in her heart, home, and family.

Services will be held Saturday, May 9, at the Dublin Presbyterian Church. Visitation with the family will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., followed by the service. Interment will follow in the Old Dublin Cemetery.
