Sumner, Donald Vernon

Donald Vernon Sumner, 89, of Fairlawn, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Wilburn Sumner and Beulah Viars Nester; and his sister, Anna Akers.

He is survived by his sons, Donald Lee Sumner and Steven Sumner; daughters, Lisa Sumner and Gaynor Richards (David); grandchildren, Alex, Amber, Jamie, Eric and Chanel; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Vincent; great great grandchildren, Levi and Magnolia; brother and sister-in-law, Jackie Sumner (Bonnie); and many other family members and special friends.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Inurnment with full military honors will follow at 12 p.m. in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin with Pastor Marcus Harrison officiating.
