McCoy, Kenneth H.
Kenneth H. McCoy, age 73, of McCoy, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026. He was born in Christiansburg, VA, on December 2, 1952, to the late I. Harold and Eva Perdue McCoy. He was preceded in death by his sister, Verna Mae Hall.
He was a 1971 graduate of Blacksburg High School. He worked his way up as a 14-year-old high school kid at Hoy Funeral Home in 1966. In 1974, Kenneth answered his calling and became a Funeral Service Licensee. He continued until becoming the owner of McCoy Funeral Home in 1996 and retiring in 2017. He earned the Golden License in funeral service in 2024 from the Commonwealth of Virginia for 50 years as a licensee.
Kenneth grew up in McCoy on the river as a child, where he learned to hunt and fish. He became a big-game hunter, having traveled to Durango, Colorado, to elk hunt, where he fell in love with traveling out west. He also enjoyed family history, genealogy, visiting state fairs, collecting old funeral memorabilia, and license plate toppers.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Vanessa M. McCoy; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Barbara Perdue; uncle, Larry McCoy; mother-in-law, June L. McCoy, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leon and Betsy McCoy; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Mark Matusevich, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the McCoy Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to McCoy Family Cemetery, c/o Leon McCoy, 2010 Seymour Drive, Blacksburg, VA 24060.

Vanessa, Family and all Friends of Kenneth, So many people will miss Kenneth! His commitment to compassion is only experienced very few times in our lifetime! Kenneth was a good man and helped a lot of families in this area take care of loved ones that had no insurance too pay for a funeral.
