Agee, Sybil Oliver 2Sybil Oliver Agee, 81, of Kernersville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2025. Born on January 25, 1944, in Blacksburg, Virginia, Sybil was shaped by the warmth of a loving family and the strong sense of purpose she carried into every stage of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin “Sally” Oliver and Violet H. Oliver of Blacksburg, VA. She is survived by her husband, Roy L. Agee, who provided support and kindness over the many years, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Sybil graduated from Blacksburg High School in 1962 and continued her education at Radford University, earning her degree in education in 1966. Her dedication to serving children shaped her early career, beginning with teaching positions in the Danville, VA, and High Point, NC school systems, where she worked passionately with underserved and at-risk children. Her commitment to empowering young people continued through her work with the Forsyth County Library, where she led the “Place Project,” an outreach program designed to support children in the inner city of Winston-Salem, NC.

After her years in education and community work, Sybil transitioned into publishing, managing a company focused on teaching computer literacy—an effort that reflected her lifelong belief in education, access, and opportunity.

Sybil loved nature with her whole heart. From the mountains to the sea, she found peace in the outdoors and had a special affection for farming, animals, and especially black cows. Her joy in simple, beautiful things was a gift she shared freely with others.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to JTC Center, Friendship Richfield Center “Serenity Wing,” and Carilion Clinic Hospice in Salem, Virginia, for their compassionate care during Sybil’s final months.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Shepherd’s Center of Kernersville, 636 Gralin Street, Kernersville, NC 27284.

Sybil’s gentle presence, generosity, and unwavering love will be missed by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the countless acts of kindness she offered along the way.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be private.
