Bowers, Sarah Biggs
Sarah Jane Bowers, age 85, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Lindside Healthcare Center in Lindside, WV. Born August 28, 1940, in Wikel, WV, she was the daughter of the late Mason Wilson Biggs and Beulah Jeanette Morris Biggs.
Sarah was of the Christian Faith. She read her Bible every day and was a very strong servant of the Lord. She enjoyed music, especially playing the piano and singing. She was a true homemaker who loved working in her flowers, baking pies, and canning. Above all, she loved her family dearly. She was an inspiration and an influence to her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 67 years, Richard Bowers; three sons, Larry Bowers (Sherry) of Newbergh, IN, David Bowers (Patty) of Princeton, WV, and Rex Bowers (Jodi) of Lindside, WV; one daughter, Lisa Bowers Munsey (the late James Munsey Jr.) of Lindside, WV; one brother, Harry Biggs (Louise) of Lindside, WV; one sister, Nancy Biggs of Wikel, WV; grandchildren, Jason Bowers, Samantha Jellison, Theresa Bowers, Jennifer Bowers, Deric Bowers, the late Deresa Bowers, Bret Bowers, Britney Greer, and Amanda Dunbar; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Paul Broyles officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Wikel, WV. Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Deric Bowers, Eli Bowers, Ethan Bowers, Matt Dunbar, Hunter Dunbar, and Easton Dunbar will serve as pallbearers. Matt Williams, Jason Bowers, and Bret Bowers will serve as honorary pallbearers.
