Dye, Dallas J. 2Dallas J. Dye, 96, of Nellysford, VA, passed away on August 29, 2024 in Fishersville, VA. Dallas was born in Swords Creek, VA to Preston Lee and Elsie Mae Miller Dye on January 14, 1928.

He excelled in school and set his sights on studying at Virginia Tech. After his first quarter as a cadet, and as soon as he turned 18, he enlisted in the US Army, being motivated by his desire to see where his Uncle Harry Miller had been killed in action. Dallas served in WWII in various military operations in the occupation, including guarding war criminals at Nuremberg. After his honorable discharge as Sergeant Grade 3, he returned to Tech to complete his studies, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He met the love of his life, Danese Graham Dye at the Lyric Theatre on College Avenue in early 1954. It was love at first sight for both of them and they married on December 26, 1954.

He worked as a CPA for twelve years in Bristol, TN, then was hired by Graves Construction Company as a Comptroller in 1967, moving his wife and children back to Blacksburg, VA. He later became a partner in the company. Dallas and Danese resided in Blacksburg for 54 years, building lifelong relationships including their brothers and sisters at Blacksburg Church of Christ. Dallas enjoyed countless adventures hunting, fishing, and walking outdoors with family and friends.

Dallas was preceded in death by his parents (Preston and Elsie Dye), his brother Preston L. Dye Jr (Buck), his parents-in-law (Earl Mason and Ethel Graham), his beloved daughter-in-law (Jackie Dye), and his sister (Billie Sue Simmons).

Dallas is survived by his loving spouse Danese G Dye, sons Michael D. Dye and Mark G Dye, daughter Jennifer Dye Hill, son-in-law Bradley Hill, grandchildren Jessica Crowe (Jeff), Lauren Varnell (Eric), Blake Dye (Lara), Nicole Hill Smith (Doug), and Chelsea Erin Dye (David Hawks), great-grandchildren, Ian and Levi Crowe, Addison Varnell, Preston and Braden Smith, and Maxwell Dye, sisters Patty Boggs and Maretta Lambert, and many nephews and nieces.

Dallas was a man of impeccable character and is deeply missed.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on April 19, 2025, at Westview Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at Blacksburg Church of Christ, 315 Eakin St SE, Blacksburg, VA 24060.
