Kirk, Barbara Walters

Barbara Frances Walters Kirk, born in Rogers, VA, passed away August 3, 2026, at Skyline Nursing & Rehab. She was 87.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Edward Walters; mother, Mildred Walters; sister, Virginia Walters Whitlow; and granddaughter, Shelby Zalanka.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Compton Zalanka; son, Howard Compton; grandchildren, Christine Kline, Amanda Meadors, Jason Meadors & wife Sydney, Justin Zalanka, all of AZ, and Kacie Compton Vanes of SC; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Walters Epperly, Mary Sue Walters West; and brothers, Eddie Walters, Nelson Walters, George Walters & wife Linda, and Roger Walters.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Cedar Springs Union Church, with Pastor Rodney Collins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in any amount to be given to Cedar Springs Union Church in Barbara’s name.
