“Line of Sight” at Glencoe Mansion on November 7th
Radford, VA–Glencoe Mansion is pleased to announce its new art show, “Line of Sight” featuring the works of Ruth Lefko, Martha Olson, and Lois Stephens. Meet the artists during the Opening Reception on Thursday, November 7th, from 5:30 pm to 7 pm.
Ruth Lefko, Martha Olson, and Lois Stephens, all local fine artists who specialize in different mediums, join to showcase their works. The friends say they gather monthly to critique each other’s work: “Bringing different perspectives and experience with varied media, this time together offers new insights (and an excuse to drink wine in the middle of the day). Many of the works in this exhibit are the result of the brutal honesty from these sessions.”
Ruth Lefko works in various media including watercolor/gouache, acrylic, pastels, and recently oil and cold wax. She continues to explore new ways to create a mood or feeling in her work as she moves away from a realistic depiction of a subject.
Martha Olson is best known for her intricate collages and woven mixed-media vessels. She has recently ventured into acrylic painting, taking the bold color and energy found in her former work to a new level.
Lois Stephens is an oil painter who is inspired by nature and the beauty of southwest Virginia. Many of her impressionistic works are painted with knives for more texture and fewer details, with a goal of visual harmony and connection with the viewer.
“Line of Sight” showcases each artist individually while creating a complimentary overall exhibit. The exhibit will be on display November 7, 2024 through the end of January, 2025 with the Opening Reception Meet The Artists on November 7th from 5:30pm-7pm. Glencoe Mansion, Museum and Gallery is located at 600 Unruh Drive in Radford, Virginia and is free to visit. This exhibition is suitable for all ages. Open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday from 1 pm to 4 pm.
