Hazelwood, James Mason
James Mason Hazelwood, age 80, of Peterstown, WV, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg, VA. Born on June 23, 1944, in Giles County, VA, he was the son of the late Billy Hazelwood and Edna Dent Hazelwood.
James had worked at Pulaski Furniture for 30+ years. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Margaret Bradley Hazelwood; three brothers, Barry Hazelwood, Dwight Hazelwood, and David Hazelwood; and one sister, Marsha Bledsoe.
He is survived by two daughters, Sodonia Garner (Steve) of Pearisburg, VA, and Michelle Kinzer of Peterstown, WV; one son, Jamie Hazelwood (Kim) of Peterstown, WV; two granddaughters, Sasha Hill (Jarrod) and Jaden Kinzer, all of Peterstown, WV; one great grandson, Waylon Hill; three brothers, Stewart Hazelwood (Jane) of Rich Creek, VA, Danny Hazelwood (Barbara) of Princeton, WV, and Jeff Hazelwood (Kay) of Princeton, WV; two sisters, Sandra Williams (Jimmy) of Christiansburg, VA, and Kathy Bledsoe (Dale) of Kegley, WV; special nephew, J. J. Fleeman of Salisbury, NC; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The family wishes to thank Heritage Hall in Rich Creek, VA, and the staff at Carilion Giles Community Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bradley Cemetery at the First National Bank of Peterstown or mailed to the bank at P.O. Box 550, Peterstown, WV 24963.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Minister Danny Hazelwood officiating. Burial will follow at the Bradley Cemtery in Lindside, WV, with Jamie Hazelwood, Jarrod Hill, Waylon Hill, Steve Garner, Michael Hazelwood, and JJ Fleeman serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
