Williams, Dorsey Estil

Dorsey Estil Williams, 73 of Newport, VA departed this life July 13, 2023 after a courageous battle with Congestive Heart Failure. Born in Giles County, Virginia on January 7, 1950 he was a son of the late Marcie Williams.

Dorsey was a kind soul often enjoying his family as they were his pride and joy in life. A farmer and handyman, Dorsey enjoyed hunting, fishing, looking for the best morels of the season, and gardening. He was also an honorary life member of the Newport Rescue Squad.

In addition to his mother, Dorsey is preceded in death by his first wife, Ollie Williams.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Williams; sons, Rusty Casteele (Pat) of Ripplemead, Sammy Nance (Luanne) of Pearisburg, Will McLean of Moneta, VA, and Michael Nance (Pamela) of Florida; daughters, Sheila Van Dyk (Richard) of Pulaski, April Pruitt of Roanoke, and Pat McLean of Staffordsville, VA; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jaslyn, Cameron, Amanda, Heather, Kiley, Brenon, Christiaan, Fabian, Ginny and husband, Kenny, Kimberly, and Crystal, numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Poff (Nelson) of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Sandy Gravely, and Wallace and Norma Link.

There will be a Celebration of Life to honor the life Dorsey gave us all at his homeplace (131 A&L Lane Lot 5 Newport, VA) on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to NBB under Linda Williams in care of Dorsey Williams Memorial to assist with costs of the celebration of life.
