Spangler, Betty Ferrell

Betty Sue Spangler, age 78, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023. Born September 17, 1944, in Pearisburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Florence Craddock Ferrell.

Betty was a devoted member of the Lindside United Methodist Church, where she was involved with the United Methodist Women and served as Sunday School Superintendent; she loved teaching children about the love of the Lord. She worked as a CNA at Riverview Nursing Home for 31 years.

Additionally, she helped organize and raise funds for the Lindside Volunteer Fire Department, a community she cared deeply for. She was an amazing cook and her family loved the many meals and birthday cakes she loving made for them. Her family was her pride and joy. Her presence will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, John D. Spangler; one son, John D. Spangler, Jr. of Lindside, WV; one daughter, Melissa Asbury and husband Anthony of Ballard, WV; four grandchildren, Allie Bodnar (Zane), J.D. Spangler III, Chris Spangler (Kayla), and Michelle Toler (Nate); three great grandchildren, Cooper Bodnar, Carter Bodnar, and Phoenix Toler; and cousin, Linda Vass (Tommy) of Lindside, WV.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Cassie Fisher and Gary Hazelwood officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Memorial Gardens in Lindside, WV. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
