Smith, Roger

Roger Smith, 75 of Elliston, passed away December 19, 2023. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather as well as a friend to many. He loved his church and church family at Piedmont Pentecostal Holiness Church but most importantly he loved God.

He served in the Air Force for 4 years where he worked on telecommunications at Langley Air Force Base. This led to him beginning his career as an electrician. After several years of working his day job and then going out and working until dark, he started Sundown Electric Inc. He loved playing golf, farming, and taking his wife to many places to sing gospel music. He loved making it to sporting events and activities that his four grandchildren were involved in, and he would brag about them to anyone who would listen. He loved to help others, and he had a heart of gold. After a short battle with brain cancer, the Lord took him home to rest where he is hurting no more. He will be missed by many, but he left us with so much.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Golden H. and Helen M. Smith; and brother, Rocky Smith. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Smith; sons, Jeffrey Smith (Adrienne), Andrew Smith (Angela); grandchildren, Madison Smith (Devin), Drew Smith, Liam Smith, Livi Smith.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. at Grace Life Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Grace Life Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
