Pitzer, Thomas Franklin

Thomas Franklin Pitzer, 86, of the Poplar Hill Community of Giles County, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023 at his home. He was born March 6, 1937 in Lindside, WV, the son of the late Herbert & Ethel Pitzer.

Tom was a member of Shady Grove Church. He retired from Celanese and enjoyed farming, tending to his pet donkeys, gardening and pruning his fruit trees. He was a member of the Giles County Planning Commission and the White Gate Ruritan Club for many years. Tom was considered quite the kidder and loved his family and neighbors.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Hampton & Ethel Bonlyn Pitzer, his first wife, Virginia Cedella Miller Pitzer, his brother & sisters-in-law, Bill & Patty Pitzer, Sharon Pitzer and Darla Pitzer.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of over four years, Gail C. McCall; his brothers & sisters-in-law, Gene & Mary Lou Pitzer, Jerry & Sandra Pitzer, Johnny Pitzer and Dennis Pitzer; his sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Carol & Norman Thompson and Ernest & Elizabeth Miller; several nieces, nephews and special friends, too many to list; and his special dog companions, “Precious” and “Sandy.”

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Mac Miller and Charles Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Walkers Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 P.M. until service time, 2:00 P.M.
