Payne, Judy Jamerson

In the dawn of August 31, 2023, Judy Ann Jamerson Payne, 78, completed her journey to her Heavenly Father. She had contracted pneumonia after a multi-year battle with a variety of health concerns.

Judy’s son, Victor West Burnette, her husband, Jerry Lee Payne, parents, John Washington Jamerson and Mary Wilson Jamerson, her sister, Saundra Carol Mitchell, her brother, William Powell (Johnny) Jamerson preceded her in death. She is survived by her sisters, Billie June Jamerson Sleeper and Bettie Marie Jamerson Pippin Bray, her nieces, and nephews. She resided in Radford, Virginia.

Judy led a full life with a career in Virginia Department of Corrections and Real Estate in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In retirement, she and Jerry resided in Horry County of South Carolina from 2001 to 2021, where she served in the OES Chapter #180 and maintained strong connections with the Loris chapter as well.

She made many friends in the New River Valley as a member of Blacksburg Christian Fellowship. She was known by all for her sense of style and gracious encouragement of all those around her. She was a brilliant soul that shined wherever she went. The family will have a graveside service for the family on Saturday, September 9th.
