NRVHBA Excellence in Building Awards 4The New River Valley Home Builders Association (NRVHBA) presented the Excellence in Building Awards at their annual Gala event on Saturday, February 17th. Ian Friend, Project Manager for SAS Builders and President of the NRVHBA, announced the winners in fourteen different categories which included multiple new categories for the 2024 term.

Nominees are required to submit design plans, client letters of satisfaction, project statements, and before/after photography. Winners were chosen by out of market industry professionals from North Carolina to New York. For the first time, the Design Excellence Awards for Best Kitchen and Best Bath were divided into categories based on project cost, acknowledging both high-end luxury designs and more budget-conscious projects. The NRVHBA is excited to announce that White Builders, Inc. received the award for Best Kitchen Under $100,000 and Slate Creek Builders won for their Best Kitchen Over $100,000. Additionally, Slate Creek Builders won both Best Bathroom Over $50,000 and under $50,000.

Back to Nature Landscaping and Construction received the Best Outdoor Living award for their Pool on the New River Project, Slate Creek Builders won the Best Curb Appeal award, and in the newest category, Blue Ridge Design Build received the award for Most Creative Home Feature for their Mountain Man Cave Project.

To celebrate quality among home construction and remodeling, the NRVHBA introduced the Best New Spec Home Award which was awarded to Progress Street Builders who simultaneously won the Best New Custom Home award. Finally, White Builders, Inc. received the final Design Excellence Award for Best Remodeled Home.

Taylor Kasey with SAS Builders was awarded the Association Service Award for her outstanding committee and volunteer work throughout 2023. Foresight Design Services was awarded the Community Impact Award which recognized their dedication to the NRV community through various volunteer projects and initiatives. The NRVHBA Associate Member of the Year, awarded each year to a non-Builder member of the NRVHBA for outstanding service and contributions to the industry and association was awarded to Carter Bank & Trust.

Setter Construction won the coveted Builder of the Year for building and operating with quality and integrity in mind, their consideration of community impact when planning and building, and having a high customer satisfaction rating. Austin Hauslohner, co-owner and operator of Setter Construction, says, “We at Setter Construction would like to thank our team, clients, and the NRVHBA for the recognition of Builder of the Year. We are thankful for the opportunities that we had to give back to our community and our association in 2023, and we look forward to setting a higher standard in 2024.”

At the 2024 event, the NRVHBA dedicated a Presidential Service Recognition to Justin Boyle, CFO of Green Valley Builders and Immediate Past President of the NRVHBA, for his 2022-2023 serving term.
