New FOIA Request System for Blacksburg
The Town of Blacksburg is streamlining the process of making and responding to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests with the launch of a new records management software called JustFOIA. JustFOIA, launched on Monday, April 15, is designed for state and local government entities to modernize public records management and accessibility.
For the user, JustFOIA is an intuitive and easy-to-use platform for making and monitoring requests and communicating directly with staff throughout the process. The system also allows the user to make payments for requests when they are required.
Internally, JustFOIA helps the town FOIA Officers and the responding departments to collaborate, ensuring prompt and efficient customer service. The workflow functionalities within the system also help staff maintain consistency and efficiency when handling multiple requests.
“Incorporating JustFOIA into our town operations will enable us, internally, to streamline the process of receiving and fulfilling FOIA requests. For our customers, making a FOIA request will be easier than ever,” said Paralegal Audrey Gray. “This will lead to increased efficiency for town staff, and further demonstrate our commitment to being an open and accessible local government. ”
