Nevergold, Michael William 4Michael William Nevergold, 79, of Pearisburg, VA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Michael was born on January 30, 1944, in Roanoke, VA and was a son of the late Harold William Nevergold of Tarentum, PA and Susie Frances Wimmer Nevergold of Hardy, VA.

Michael was a faithful and dedicated member of the Pearisburg Presbyterian Church and over the years served as Ruling Elder, Sunday School teacher, Clerk of Session and Trustee. He loved to travel and “cruise” various parts of the world. He began traveling early in his life by attending college at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology where he earned a degree in Chemistry and a minor in Mathematics. He held jobs at GE and Va Transformer as an Engineer, owned a TV and electronics repair shop in Rich Creek, VA and was employed by Plastics One as a Quality Assurance Manager. After retirement, his love of gardening flourished and he walked many family members and friends through his garden sharing that love with them.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Elaine Watler Nevergold of Pearisburg; his children, Tana Marie Nevergold Benge (Roger), Michael Heath Nevergold, Melvin Eugene Nevergold and James Sean King; his grandchildren, Emily Marie Scarantino (Steven), Rachel Tadsen (Zachary), Anna Nevergold, Coryn Eleese King, Joe August King and Lily Hayes Robert King; his great-grandchildren, Trace Ryder Scarantino and Eli Oliver Lee Tadsen; his brother, George Robert Nevergold (Barbara) and his sister, Page Nevergold Wilhelm along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted, Sunday, January 21, 2024, at 2 pm at the Pearisburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Steve Darr and the Rev. Shirley Larson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church 1 hour before the service from 1 – 2 pm. Online condolences can be sent to the family at givensfuneralhome.com.
