Multiple Agencies Respond to Structure Fire 2

February 19, 2026 – At approximately 12:25 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, dispatchers received a call for a structure fire along the 1600 block of Peppers Ferry Road.

The Christiansburg Fire Department was the first to be dispatched, the Blacksburg Fire Department immediately provided joint aid.

Upon arrival, crews found the Montgomery County home, which is located in the fire jurisdiction of Christiansburg, fully engulfed in flames.

Four people were in the home at the time of the fire. One person died at the scene and two others were transported to Wake Forest Medical Center and are currently being treated for injuries. A fourth person was transported to Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital, treated for minor injuries and released.

The Christiansburg Fire Department would like to thank Christiansburg EMS, the Blacksburg Fire Department, Blacksburg Rescue Squad, Montgomery County Fire and EMS, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Christiansburg Police Department, and the Blacksburg Police Department who assisted on scene.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown. Virginia State Police and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating.
