Lester, Farley 2Farley Lester, age 82 of Hiwassee passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at his home with his family. Born September 23, 1943 in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Lester & Hattie Puckett Lester. He was also preceded in death by his sisters and brothers-in-law Helen (William) Worrell and Pauline (Jessie) Hedge.

Farley was a proud veteran of our United States Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne. He was on the ground in the Dominican Republic during the 6-Day War and was a Purple Heart Recipient.

After coming home he worked and retired from the Lynchburg Foundry after 38 years of service. His most recent work was driving for New River Transit. He was a member of the Radford V.F.W. Post # 776.

Children – Ewell Lester, Jr., Teresa (Howard) Cumiford

Grandchildren – Michael Lester, River Lester, Zoey Lester, Ellis Lester, Eden Lester, Patrick Cumiford, Marisa Cumiford

Great Grandchildren – Olive Lester, Ivy Cumiford

Sister – Norma (Kenneth) Klima

Brother – Stanley Lester

Many nieces, nephews and friends

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM – Thursday, July 9, 2026 at the Grace Fellowship Baptist Church (2460 Max Creek Road-Hiwassee) with Pastor Eddie Bing officiating. Interment will follow at the Cecils Chapel Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour before service time Thursday at the church.
