Laurel Craghead Joins Freedom First Team

Freedom First is pleased to welcome Laurel Craghead to the team as Vice President Private & Business Banking.

With 23 years of financial industry knowledge and over three decades of people-focused service, Laurel’s passion to serve and support her members is unwavering. She is experienced in business and retail banking – both of which often require complex problem solving – equipping her to assist in a wide range of banking needs.

As Laurel begins her new role, her approach is “Every Member, Every Time,” highlighting her dedication to building meaningful relationships and providing experiences rooted in consistency, intentionality, and excellence. “Joining Freedom First aligns with my people-first approach and allows me to go beyond individual interactions by supporting initiatives that strengthen and give back to the community,” said Craghead.

Laurel is originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and attended Curry College where she studied Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Administration. She remains dedicated to furthering her education and has also earned a Certificate in Homeland Defense. In her free time, Laurel enjoys spending time with her family and friends, sailing, hiking the Appalachian Trail in Millinocket, and photography.

Laurel will primarily serve the Smith Mountain Lake, Roanoke, and New River Valley areas to meet the needs of our members and surrounding community.
