King, Mary Jane Kasey 8Mary Jane Kasey King, age 95 of Pulaski, died Wednesday, April 26,2023 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. She was deeply loved by her family and will be missed dearly. Mary Jane was born on October 3,1927 in Matoaka, West Virginia, to Glenna Mann Kasey and Hampton Kasey.

She was known for her grace, strength, and a uniqueindependence that served her family well during her life. After graduating high school, she furthered her education at Concord College, where she studied music and math.

After college, Mary Jane moved to Pulaski County, where she went to work at the Radford Arsenal and married Stanley Russell King. Mary Jane was dedicated to her family, providing her children and grandchildren with strong foundation and values. She was also a smart businesswoman and entrepreneur, who along with her husband owned and operated motels, restaurants, and later she worked in real-estate. Mary Jane was very involved in her community, including her talents as a pianist at Memorial Baptist Church in Pulaski, her dedication as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, and her commitment as a volunteer poll worker for many years.

Mary Jane is survived by her sons, Leland “LT” King (Bobbie) of Pulaski, and Norman King of Pulaski, and her daughters, Karen Mitchell (Harold) of Radford and Beth Kelley (Jim) of Chesterton IN. She is also survived by her sisters, Betty Hurst, and Erma Wood (Ken), eight grandchildren, Adrian Mitchell, Carla Cross (Thomas “Brian”), Anna Mitchell Kuhns (Nick), Adam King (Cassandra), Mary Katherine “Kati” Montgomery (Turner “TJ”), Erin Kelley, Shannon Kelley, and John Kelley, and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Russell King, and her sister, Nancy Woody.

A memorial service will be held on June 24,2023 at 2:00pm at Memorial Baptist Church, 995 Peppers Ferry Road Pulaski, VA 24301. Donations in memory of Mary Jane King may be made to Memorial Baptist Church PO Box 31 Pulaski VA 24301 or Discovery Eye Foundation at Discoveryeye.org
