Jones, Sr., Walter Lee

Walter Lee Jones, Sr. 84 of Pembroke, VA departed this life January 1, 2023 in the loving care of his family. Born in Glen Lyn, Virginia on June 19, 1938 he was a son of the late Hubert Cleveland Jones and Olivia Thomas Jones.

Walter was a retired mechanic with the Giles County Public School System and truly enjoyed any maintenance work on vehicles. He also enjoyed hunting and was an avid Virginia Tech fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Edward Jones, Sr; sister-in-law, Nancy Calfee, niece, Rhonda Blankenship; and nephew, Ronald Jones, Jr.

Left to cherish his memory to their hearts are his wife, Sue Anderson Jones; sons, Randy Jones, and Walter Jones, Jr. of Narrows; grandchildren, Ryan Jones (Lauryn), Dale Jones (Stacey), Logan Dennis, Keela Bennett (Tice); great-grandchildren, Rylee Jones, Harper Jones, Aiden Jones, Kendall Jones, and Brantlee Jones; brother Ronald “Poochie” Jones of Narrows, sister, Norma McNeil of Roanoke; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 7, 2022 at 12:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Keith Jones officiating. Funeral services will conclude at Birchlawn Burial Park. Family will receive friends at Kendall Funeral Home on Saturday, January 7, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
