House Passage of AM Radio for Every Vehicle
Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 979 – the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act. This legislation directs federal agencies to issue a rule that compels automobile manufacturers to install AM radio for new vehicles. The bill now heads to the U.S. Senate for further consideration.
Following House passage of the bill, U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA), who voted for the bill and is a co-sponsor of the legislation, issued the following statement:
“AM radio is a tested and tried technology that reliably delivers news in real-time to people while they are driving. Access to this technology can be life-saving during a disaster, particularly in rural areas where redundant communications systems are essential.
“With this bill, those who live in and/or drive through rural communities will continue to receive reliable signal and service through AM radio.
“I urged House leadership to bring this bill to a vote. I am proud that the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act is one step closer to becoming law.”

agree about keeping the am radio. I know a lot of people do not understand it because they rely solely on their cell phone. when everything’s goes down like all the blackouts. the AM radio will still work for news and updates and people don’t understand that that is very important in today’s society. and all the other countries are trying to get even with us and and you just see how they just cut off all our power and it stopped every airport in its place nobody could travel. will a.m. does not get their signal from the same place and we will be able to communicate at least hear what’s going on in emergency. you got to understand how it was back then in the old days did am with the most reliable source when the enemy tried to cut all our communications with everyone. this is for our own good. cuz if another country blows us up you’re not going to need any housing. I have used AM radio many many times. and they’re doing away with everything in these cars. don’t you want to be able to help yourself instead of thinking about greedy and what you’re going to miss out on think about how am can save your life

Ummm don’t cars already have am radio?

I believe that groceries and gas prices should be the priority here. Certainly not trying to enact a law for new vehicles to have AM RADIO thus raising the new car prices even higher….

Let’s work on gas and food prices ..

People can’t afford gas to get to work. What are you doing about that? People can’t afford to put food on the table. What are you doing about that?
Eligible voters need to get registered to vote. Vote early if you can to get your vote in.

Please tell me this is a September Fool’s joke. THIS is the “important stuff” you’re working on? What’s next—your take on the FBI now allowing agents who have engaged in beastiality? Oops, that’s already been defended by Ka$h Patel yesterday. You missed your chance.

I think the shortage of affordable housing is a more important issue than am radio. Let’s try fixing that first.
