Dickenson, Jr., Robert Leon
Robert Leon Dickenson, Jr., 79, of Christiansburg, VA., passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026; in his loving home. He was born in Norfolk, VA on November 29, 1946 to the late Lt. Col. Robert Leon Dickenson Sr. and Eleanor Ross Dickenson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Chrisopher Scott Dickenson, a daughter, Dena Suzanne Dickenson, and a sister, Mary Ann Wine (Paul).
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Scottie Elliott Dickenson; son, Benjamin David Dickenson, daughter, Julia Valera Dickenson; brother, Charles Ross Dickenson (Sandy); several grandchildren and one great grandchild; nieces and nephews; special caregiver and friend Catherine Price Linkous, family as well as Leilani Barnes. Special college graduates and life long friends, Warren Fry, Zan George, Ray Yount; and a cousin Ann Rhudy (Don).
Bob was a loving husband and wonderful father, even to his additional children. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1968, where he served as Corps of Cadets in the F Company, and went on to serve his country as a Captain in the US Army. He retired as a Probation and Parole officer in Atlanta, GA. He was a “die hard Republican”. He loved collecting coins and war memorabilia. Bob was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Montgomery County Rotary and Torch Clubs.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 25, 2026 from 11:00 until 12:00 at St. Paul United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 12:00. Interment will follow in the Southwest Virgina Veterans Cemetery at 1:30.
