Davis, Glen Charles

Davis, Glen Charles 4Glen Charles Davis, age 51, of Blacksburg, Virginia, formerly of Marshfield Hills, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 15, 2023. Glen was born April 7, 1971, and was the cherished son of the late Charles R. and Marie C. Davis.

Born and raised in Marshfield Hills, he was a graduate of Marshfield High School, class of 1989, where he was a member of the football and track teams, and where he developed his lifelong love of all Boston sports. As the son of two schoolteachers, Glen had fond memories of extended summer cross-country camping trips in the family van alongside his older siblings, Kimberly and Brian. He also spent endless summer days down at Humarock Beach, Brant Rock, Bluefish Cove, and windsurfing in Duxbury Bay. Come evenings, Glen was well-known for riveting, lip-sync performances of Axel Rose and Mick Jagger around many a campfire at Fourth Cliff.

Glen attended Northeastern University, where he received his B.S. Magna Cum Laude in Physical Therapy in 1994, and completed his co-op employment experience at Washington Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Upon graduation from Northeastern, he started his 30-year career as a Physical Therapist at HealthSouth/Rehability in various clinics in Northern Virginia, where he lived with his first wife, the late Vicki Stohl. As Glen’s career progressed, he held many positions in clinics and hospital settings from Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia to Charlotte, North Carolina, and finally, Blacksburg, Virginia, where he had recently been promoted to manager at Cora Physical Therapy in Christiansburg and Radford. In all his years as a Physical Therapist, Glen treated and cared for thousands of patients, receiving numerous commendations and awards for his professionalism, talent, and most notably his extremely kind, compassionate and patient manner.

Along this path, Glen met and married his former wife, Allison Shaw, with whom he shared their two beloved children, Chloe and Christian Davis. Above all else, Glen’s children were the center of his life. He cherished time with them and took great pride in their talents and accomplishments, as well as the amazing young adults they have become.

In his spare time, Glen had a passion and encyclopedic knowledge of music and lyrics, entertaining friends and family with hours of beautiful singing and guitar playing. He also looked forward to time spent with family at the holidays in Springfield, Virginia where he was known for his talent as a baker, especially when he delivered his Christmas bark, enjoyed by staff, patients, family and friends; as well as yearly summer trips with Chloe and Christian to his native Massachusetts, visiting with friends and family in Manchester-by-the-Sea and along the South Shore.

In addition to his children, Chloe and Christian Davis of Blacksburg, Virginia, Glen is survived by his two loving siblings, Kimberly Tagg (Bruce) of Springfield, Virginia, and Brian Davis (Beth) of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts; his nieces and nephews Connor Tagg (Marissa) of Michigan, Heather Tagg (fiancé Chris) of Virginia, Fiona Negron (Thomas) of Boston and Charlie Davis of Boston. No matter whether he lived next door or miles away, Glen managed to see his nieces and nephews compete in their sports from the time they were in little league and youth soccer to running cross country, track, and playing baseball and soccer all at the collegiate level. He was truly their biggest fan! Not to mention treating a few aches and pains of the athletes along the way.

Glen will be dearly missed and remembered by many as the kindest and gentlest of souls. Our hearts are comforted knowing that the night before he passed, he fulfilled his passion and dream and performed at open mic on Valentine’s Day, playing his guitar and singing.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm, with a Memorial Service immediately following at 6:00 pm at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg, VA. www.mccoyfuneralhome.com.
