Childress, Benny Dale
Benny Childress, age 67 passed on January 26, 2025. He was born in Radford, Virginia to James B Childress and Frances Kathleen Wright King Childress. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Danny Lee King and Ricky Childress.
Benny was a mountain man. He loved to fish, gathered ginseng, and loved all animals, Cats, dogs, racoons, it didn’t matter. He was Bob Dylan’s number one fan and was able to see “A Complete Unknown” at the theater on Christmas Day with his family. Benny was a poet, a story teller, loved to talk, had good since of humor, and he would bike daily for several miles. He was talented in construction work of all types (drywall, plumbing, electric, painting, etc.).
His health declined in the last several years, but he kept a good sense of humor. Thanks to Mark and Tracey Shirley, Dan Moliver, Billy Wirt, Billy Bishop, and Junior Atkinson for their friendships.
He is survived by his sisters Rita Carter, Debra King, Lila Hogan (Dean); brother Eddie King (Nancy); cats Mickey and Daisy; and many nieces and nephews.

Benny was a good guy easy to get along with and loved talking to everyone.i knew him and his dad and brother Ricky he will be loved and missed by his family and friends.rest in peace Benny prayers go out to his family
