Carbaugh, Agnus Madeline 4Agnus Madeline “Jane” Carbaugh, a life-long resident of Giles County, VA departed her earthly life after a lengthy illness on September 4, 2023 at the age of 80 in Pulaski Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Jane was born in Eggleston, VA on November 7, 1942 to the late Frank Ollar and Vergie Bailey Carbaugh. She was raised on the family farm along with her three siblings where they worked together doing chores and taking care of the livestock.

Jane graduated from Eggleston High School as the Salutatorian of the Class of 1961. She eventually moved to Pearisburg several years later to begin her career in the food industry. She was a hardworking independent woman who provided for and raised two strong sons on her own. Jane was known for her good sense of humor and contagious laughter among her family and friends. She enjoyed doing craft projects, such as knitting, embroidering, crocheting, and doing plastic canvas art.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents; her brother “Buddy” Frank Miller Carbaugh; and her sister Shirley Ann Carbaugh Lucas.

She is survived by two sons, Wade (Sally Cooke) Carbaugh of Pembroke and Dusty (Ashley Perdue) Carbaugh of Narrows; her longtime companion, Gene Merrix; her grandchildren Kierston, Maddie, Sophie, Moses, Kenzie, Kyle, Elton, Tyler, Nathan, Caroline, Susannah, and Georgia; her great-grandchildren Rylee, Aubree, and Brooklyn; her sister Sue (Fred) Thompson; brother-in-law Dickey Lucas; and several special nieces and nephews.

There will be a funeral service conducted on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gary Poff officiating. Funeral service will conclude at the Croy Cemetery on Goodwins Ferry Road in Newport, VA. The family will also have a time of visitation on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel.
