Brookman, Sr., James Harold

James Harold Brookman, Sr., age 77, entered the gates of Heaven on Monday, July 6, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born on October 25, 1948, in Union, WV, he was the son of the late Sid and Martha Brookman.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Brookman was preceded in death by siblings, Howard, Jimmy, Junior, Ethel, and Myrtle.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Brookman; his children, Lisa and Ricky Dalton, Kristina and Dan Gray, James H. Brookman, Jr., Heather and Josh Dotson, and Danielle Rice; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; his brother, William and Jenny Brookman; many nieces and nephews who adored and loved their Uncle Harold; and his co-workers and friends from Salem Paving in Salem, VA, where he was a faithful employee for more than forty-five years.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Matt Sauvage officiating. Honoring his request, Mr. Brookman will be cremated following the services. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
