Brammer, Wilmar Jean 4Wilmar Jean Brammer, of Christiansburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 2, 2023, at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, in Christiansburg, Va. Wilmar was born August 25, 1942, in Fagg, Va. Wilmar retired from Rainbo Bread, as a truck driver.

Wilmar was a family man who treasured time spent with his loved ones. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Joanne Ward Brammer; daughters, Teresa Custer, Charlene Simpkins (Shannon) and Rebecca Wilson (Michael); cherished grandchildren, Ashley Custer, Danielle Dudley (Kyle), Sarah Campbell (Kellen), Brooke Cordes (Hayden), and Brennen Wilson; great-grandson, Landon Custer, all of Christiansburg, Va.; sister, Evelyn Rice (Russell) of Sandston, Va.; special nieces, Pat Bean (Billy) and Darlene McGuire, who were more like daughters than nieces, both of Christiansburg, Va.; close friends, Red Custer and Mike Eastridge, both of Christiansburg, Va.

Wilmar was preceded in death by his parents, Otho Eugene Brammer and Lura Bryant Brammer; brothers, Calvin, Howard and Julian; sister, Ardith Matz; and granddaughter, Shelby Simpkins.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center for their care of Mr. Brammer

The family invites friends to come celebrate Wilmar’s life in a Funeral Service on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 2:00 PM, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in a time of visitation from 1-2:00 PM before the service at McCoy Funeral Home.
