ARC Awards Funds to Virginia Tech
Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) announced today that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded $453,743 to Virginia Tech for their Setting Appalachia’s Workforce on Track to Adapt to the Changing Construction Industry project. According to ARC, this investment will allow Virginia Tech to develop a training roadmap, workforce gap analysis, and plan for large scale implementation supporting the emerging field of industrialized construction.
“This investment by ARC is great news, as it will help Virginia Tech better understand what is needed to develop the growing field of industrialized construction,” said Griffith. “This project could lead to a more skilled construction workforce and increased economic development in Southwest Virginia.”
Industrialized construction aims at improving productivity and efficiency by increasing mechanization and automation.
