Pumpkin Festival Opens with Wine Festival

Sinkland Farms will open its 35th Annual Pumpkin Festival this Saturday, Sept. 19, launching seven weekends of fall festivities with its annual Wine Festival and a full weekend of pumpkins, hayrides, live music, food, family activities and nationally recognized fall attractions.

The Sept. 19–20 Wine Festival will feature eight Virginia wineries and two craft distilleries offering tastings and bottle sales from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participating wineries are Twisted Pines, Muddy Paws, Dobbins Hollow, MountainRose Vineyards (Saturday only), Mattaponi Winery, Notaviva Farm Winery, Wind Vineyards (Saturday only), and The Homeplace Vineyard (Saturday only). Brady’s Distillery and J.H. Bards Spirit Co. round out the lineup with Virginia craft spirits.

Guests can sample wines and spirits while enjoying live music at the farm’s Event Center, and Sinkland’s own tap room will serve beer and wine throughout the Pumpkin Festival season. Beer and wine sales at Sinkland benefit the Sinkland Center for Educational and Experiential Development (Sinkland CEED), the farm’s nonprofit organization supporting hands-on agricultural education and field-trip experiences for area schoolchildren.

“Thirty-five years ago, we set out to share this farm with our neighbors, and every fall since, the New River Valley has shown up in a way that fills my heart,” said Susan Sink, owner of Sinkland Farms. “There is nothing like raising a glass, live music drifting over the pumpkin fields and families making memories all around you. That is what this festival is all about.”

Opening weekend begins a seven-weekend season for the Christiansburg farm, which enters its 35th year after earning two national honors from USA TODAY 10Best in 2025: No. 4 Best Pumpkin Patch and No. 4 Best Corn Maze in the nation. Sinkland was the only Virginia pumpkin patch to place in the Pumpkin Patch Top 10.

This year’s festival features “America’s Harvest Celebration,” commemorating America’s 250th anniversary through agriculture, family and fall traditions, with special entertainment, displays and activities throughout the season.

Following opening weekend, the Pumpkin Festival continues for seven weekends through Nov. 1, with hayrides to the pumpkin patch, the farm’s nationally ranked five-acre corn maze, barnyard animals, live music, food trucks, arts and crafts vendors, costumed characters and activities for children and families. New this year is Pumpkin Putt-Putt, included with festival admission. Additional attractions include a zipline, bounce pad and giant slides.

The Sinkland Farms Wine Festival runs 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19–20. Wine Festival tasting admission is $25 online or $30 at the gate and includes Pumpkin Festival admission, a commemorative Sinkland Farms wine glass and tasting tickets.

The 35th Annual Sinkland Farms Pumpkin Festival runs Sept. 19–Nov. 1 at 3060 Riner Road in Christiansburg, approximately 10 minutes from Virginia Tech and Radford University. Weekend admission is $20 at the gate, with children ages 3 and younger admitted free. Thursday and Friday evening admission in October is $15 at the gate, with limited activities.
